FACULTY & MENTOR STANDARD

Verify the person, define the role, record the contribution.

A faculty profile is a professional identity layer. Academic authority and contribution come from specific programme, project, institutional or review assignments.

PROFILE LAYERS

Four kinds of information should remain distinguishable.

Verified identity

Identity, qualifications, professional registration where relevant and institutional affiliation supported through an appropriate verification process.

Declared expertise

Focused clinical, teaching, research and mentorship interests supplied by the professional and represented as such.

Assigned roles

Programme faculty, mentor, research, reviewer, committee or institutional roles tied to a specific source record and period.

Verified contributions

Completed teaching, mentorship, research, review and academic-service records derived from actual GeNext/institutional activities.

MENTORSHIP RECORD

Minimum structure for a formal Mentor Connect engagement.

Mentorship ID/status
Learner / mentee identity with appropriate privacy
Mentor identity
Programme/project/community context
Mentorship type
Learning / project objectives
Scope and boundaries
Planned duration
Meeting / communication rhythm
Milestones or review points
Conflicts / disclosures where relevant
Outcome / closure status
ASSIGNMENT MODEL

Roles are granted from the activity outward.

01

Need defined

A programme, project, event, learner or academic community identifies a faculty/mentor requirement.

02

Expertise match

Relevant verified/declared expertise and availability are reviewed.

03

Role accepted

Scope, dates, responsibilities, boundaries and conflicts are acknowledged.

04

Contribution delivered

Teaching, mentorship, assessment, research or review occurs within the assigned context.

05

Activity verified

The programme/project authority confirms the contribution where appropriate.

06

History updated

A durable contribution record is added without exposing confidential learner, reviewer or project information.

QUALITY

Feedback informs development; it should not become a popularity marketplace.

Learner and programme feedback can support faculty development and programme review. Private feedback should remain appropriately controlled, and public-facing faculty status should not be determined by simplistic star ratings, popularity or commercial ranking.

CONTRIBUTION RECORD

What may accumulate across a faculty career.

Programme teaching
Workshop instruction
Fellowship mentorship
Research mentorship / project role
Conference academic role
Academic-resource contribution
Assessment / examiner role
Peer / academic review
Committee / community service
Programme leadership
Publications / scholarly outputs
Faculty-development participation

The same standard can drive Faculty & Mentor Connect digitally.

Profiles become discoverable; roles remain scoped; contributions become traceable.
