The project record links the research question, people, institutions, protocol, governance, milestones and outputs so the academic history remains understandable from initiation to publication.

STATUS MODEL
Project status should describe reality, not aspiration.
Methods, collaborators and governance requirements being prepared.
Required ethics/institutional permissions are being sought or documented.
Required approvals are in place and authorised project activity is underway.
Data collection or primary project activity has closed and outputs are being developed.
Project has a documented closure state, outputs and retained institutional record.
CONTRIBUTOR STANDARD
Credit should follow contribution.
Roles and expected contributions should be discussed early, reviewed as the project evolves and reconciled before submission. Authorship must follow the requirements of the intended publication and accepted scholarly standards; platform membership or seniority alone should not guarantee authorship.
DATA BOUNDARY
Research Connect should not become an uncontrolled clinical-data store.
The collaboration workspace should hold project metadata, controlled documents and workflow records. Identifiable or sensitive research data should be stored only in systems and locations authorised by the responsible institution, protocol, consent and applicable governance requirements.
This standard becomes the schema behind Research Connect.
Each digital project can use the same core record while adding study-specific fields and institution-specific governance.
